DeClutter Your Counter Tops

Does your bathroom countertop look like this . . . when you accumulate all your hairstyling tools?

Mine use to . . .but not anymore.

My counter top is cleared from debrie as I conveniently stow all my styling tools in my heat-resistant Style 'n Wrap "TM" immediately after I unplug my hot iron! Everything you see in the first picture has been organized neatly into the Style 'n Wrap "TM" and hung over a towel bar in my bathroom. The flexible wrapping design allows you to store any-sized curling iron, flat iron, or both inside the wrap.

When you're in a hurry, do you ever leave home and wonder whether you unplugged your hot styling tool?

By using your Style 'n Wrap, you're covered whether you leave it on your counter top all day . . . the heat-resistant pad will protect your counter tops from burn marks or discolorations caused by heat,

or your Style 'n Wrap "TM" may just remind you to unplug your styling tools, pack them up immediately to create more organization in your life!!!

Tiny Totes for Tots

Tiny Totes for Tots “™”came about in the fall of 2008 and have been a big hit in the school, dance, and health club circuit.

Children love to be responsible for their own belongings whether it is a trip to Grandma's, or dining out and taking coloring book and crayons. The inspiration came to us after finding tons of glittery preschool projects inserted into our daughters backpack. We decided to start by making a bag especially for preschool. Then we realized that there was also speech class, dance class, swimming lessons, ice skating, and trips to the healthclub that all required the carrying of stuff specific to each individual excursion. Little by little our daughter's collection of bags has increased as we discovered by pre-loading the bags with all the "stuff" needed for each activity that it was much easier to leave knowing that we hadn't forgotten an important item at home. Attention was paid to the size of the bag as well, to ensure that it could be comfortably carried by the child fully-loaded and even better, it is washable when it becomes soiled.

Children love to see thier names inscripted on objects like pencils, toothbrushes, bicycle license plates, jewelry, etc. Many children have been given unique spellings or even unique names making it hard to find personalized items with their names.

Geneva Girls Designs finds creative inspiration from our daughter's Asian hertitage. Parents want to help their children celebrate their uniqueness, and we hope our daughter will always be proud of what makes her unique. We have created several bags displaying children's names in both English and also in Chinese Characters. Many of our close friends have asked for similar bags for their children including Asian characters as they liked the idea. For older children we include I-Ching coins as a symbol of good luck and good fortune, but for smaller children we elminate this feature (to not create a choking hazzard).

The pictures in this post show an example of one of our latest Tiny Totes for Tots “™” made for a child celebrating her first birthday. The lining material and embroidery design were hand selected for this tote to honor the child's favorite colors and Spring birthdate.

This embroidery design has approximately 30,000 stitches on the front as well as another 22,000 stitches on the back, so it is a good value at $20.00 plus tax (shipping and handling are extra).

Bags are custom made and generally take about two weeks from order date to delivery.

All Small Canvas Tote bags are Hand-crafted with canvas fabric and lined and embellished with a ruffle using 100% cotton fabric.

The 14 inch handles measure 7 inches from the top of the bag making it easy to carry.

This is a small tote bag weighs under 5 oz. empty.

SIZE:This tote dimensions are as follows:
  • Height: 9.5 inches
  • Width: 12 inches
  • Depth: 4 inches
  • Straps: 7 inches (from the top of the back) – 14 inches total
  • Weight: Approximately 5 oz.
WASHING:This bag is washable, turn inside out. It may shrink slightly if tumbled dry. It is recommended to air-dry flat. Iron at medium heat.

EMBROIDERY:Rayon thread was used to create the beautiful machine embroidery. Most designs are 15,000 or more stitches.

USEFUL:This hand-crafted tote bag is great for quick trips to the grocery, for shoes, books, or even as a special gift bag.

Let us know if we can make one for you . . .

Although I'm a long way from being a "tot", I enjoy these tiny totes so much that I have made a few for myself.

Blog Focus

This blog will be designed to create discussion about what is important to us as women and mothers and hopefully create good feedback to those of us who are inventors and entrepreneurs. Stories on this blog will include introductions to products created by Geneva Girls Designs, but not exclusively. It is our hope to focus on becoming better informed consumers and understanding the likes and dislikes of women in the marketplace. For some it may offer resources for "resourceful" women on starting your own business, understanding how to take your product from an idea to the market, and learn about networks or organizations who can provide support along the way.

Although I am a person who is more than likely above average in systems technology skills, as a business owner I am finding myself learning something new almost every day, which by the way is a goal of mine. Recently I've spent time learning about:
  • Writing a Business Plan
  • Doing Market Research
  • Setting Up a Website (if you need support, let me know I love to give referrals).
  • Selling in the 21st Century
  • Setting Up A Marketing Plan
  • Networking (Business, Social, Causes)
  • Setting Up Advertisement Pages
  • Driving Traffic to Websites through SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  • Checking Results (Google Analytics)
  • Setting Up Online Stores,
  • Creating Store Policies,
  • Writing a Personal Profile,
  • Learning About Product Photography and Writing Benefit Driven Product Descriptions,
  • Learning about Branding and Style
  • Locating Manufacturing Resources
  • Learning about Trends

It is almost hard to believe that setting up a small business requires such diverse knowledge, but it is very stimulating to find resources that provide opportunities for personal growth at my age! One of my aspirations as a mother is to encourage my daughter(s) to strive for knowledge so hopefully I can continue to lead by example.

Do You Keep a Journal?

You don't have to be a great writer, perfect speller, or creative thinker to keep a personal journal. Journal writing means that you regularly write down your thoughts and experiences.

This description was found under the heading "Journal Writing: The Basics" on the website: www.42.explore.com/journal.htm.

There are many reasons a persons chooses to keep a journal. Many people are turning to blogs to create online journal entries that speak of their interests or experiences; however, I still believe that the serious journal keeper still wishes to keep some things to themselves using pen and paper.

Geneva Girls Designs, LLC offer one-of-a-kind covered journals. They are made using stripes of fabric scraps and creating a textured composition interwoven with thread. Most of our journals have spiral bindings which help the journal remain flat and comfortable for writing; we do offer a few that have bound book bindings. The journal cover is removable, so that it can easily be transferred to a new notebook once it is full. Just replace the journal with another similar sized notebook. Create in a dimension that fits many paperback books, I used my removable journal cover when I'm traveling so that I don't have to share with the world what I'm reading.

Visit our online store at http://www.rwgeneva.etsy.com/ and click on the tab for Covered Journals to see what is currently available. We are proud to label our products "Made in the U.S.A."
